As seen through a keen eye.

"A strong spirit transcends rules."                                                                 -Prince.

Photography and visual imagery has always played an important part in my life. Starting from a child, I realized that I was a very visual person, and the world was full of creative possibilities at my disposal. I began creating in many different ways, be it music, crafts, photography, you name it. Born into the cultural melting pot that is New York City, uptown to be exact, there were so many different cultures and traditions that I learned as I grew up. Being a young Dominican millennial, my heritage has always been a main point in my artwork.Capturing the New York urban life (Street art, Buildings, Parks) while adding my own personal remix of how I view things, in the most colorful sense possible. Lights and long exposures are some of my favorite images to capture as well, being that light for me is very important, it is a beacon of hope, and the possibilities are endless thanks to light. Many of my photos are my own depictions of how I look at the world, as a bright and beautiful place.

          Love and light,

                                -Carlita Lopez.

My name is Carlita Lopez.

A first-generation American-Dominican born and raised in the Bronx, NY. Photography and culture has always played an important part in my life. In the birthplace of hip hop and a melting pot of creativity, I have dedicated my craft to capture the ever-changing climate of our New York community. With series like “Bodega Dreams” and “Merengue” I highlight my love for my heritage, and also giving viewers a nostalgic feeling by capturing images that are reminiscent of our upbringings in this great city that I call home.

Thank you for visiting my site, and in the words of Prince, “Peace and be wild.”
